Default 7 hero FoW with Prophecies and EotN

Ok all you master builders, I have a challenge for you. I'm planning on tackling FoW with a 7 hero team; the problem is that I only have Prophecies and EotN. Before you ask, I'm not buying Nightfall and I won't be using mercenaries. However, I do have a few consets (3 I think) and I have 3 Arctic Summoning Stones in storage that I might finally use.

So, what builds would you recommend? So far, I'm looking at something like this:

Unfortunately, Kahmu is a little sub-optimal because the only Factions- and Nightfall-specific profession skills I can use are the default ones for their respective EotN hero, or those that I can buy at an EotN hero skill trainer. Still, I'm hoping that it's enough to get by.

Suggestions?

As for your plan, I do know it should definitely be possible. I remember seeing a guy take on the FoW with a ranger main as the only source of damage and 3 heroes for support pre-7H. With that considered, 4 more heroes even skill restricted should be more than possible.

My first main thought is that the melee AI is lacking. You might want to do something with Jora there... but on second thought reading that you only have her to use, essentially, considering you only have EoTN rit/dervish skills.

Considering the monk being the main source of healing, I'd look into using Hayda for a different purpose and use an E/Mo Ether Renewal protector. Ick, this is a messy situation. I'm rather used to full skill access here. I'm not sure what to tell you on it. An E/Mo protector is the most powerful source of protection you have access to, but I don't know what you would use Hayda for afterwards.

Oh, on Pyre, go secondary monk and stick rebirth on him, and disable it. As a ranger he's one of the most likely to be still alive in the case of a near wipe, so if you flag him away, it's a lot easier to rez the team when they're teleported to him.

As for the rest of it.. Honestly, you'd probably just have to try it. Read on the wiki for how to do the FoW, or wing it and see how it goes (which can be more fun <_<).

Take any expansion class BUT hayda as your second "monk", you want 4 pips of energy at a minimum. Doesn't even matter if you use any non-monk skills on them. Hexes are annoying in FoW but hexbreaker will never build on a caster hero. You could just sneak in vig spirit and hope between that and minions you don't barrage yourself to death.

IWAY does not proc off of dead minions as it once did, so is fairly useless. You're kinda hosed for IAS.

Res sig is really not worth it considering there are zero morale boosts. Fit a hard rez somewhere instead if you must.

Watch calculated risk, it eats energy fast for low effect compared to your other energy-intensive skills. Leech sig is probably better if you can't find anything.

That air ele build works fine as an X/ele, consider that if you want to abuse ether renewal. Likely a much better tradeoff than running a standard monk build with no DF.

If you can afford them, buy the skill unlock packs. That'll sort out your hero bar issues.

Get kahmu, and run a D/Mo healer instead of P/Mo for the 4 pips of regen. Then drop Jora for hayda as a spear, even with low spear attacks they will do better because of pathing issues on melee heroes.

Ok, I've updated the original post based on some of your feedback. I've changed Vekk to be ER Prot because, let's face it, it's OP even with the limited skill selection. I also swapped Hayda for Kahmu and gave him an Earth Shaker build; at least Dervish provides an IAS I can use (and +10 armor while enchanted).

@caballo_oscuro Getting the skill unlock pack is tempting, but I'm mainly looking to finish FoW for HoM and I don't want to spend extra cash just for that. Besides, I'd get sad that I couldn't use the skills myself lol.

Instead of using Jora, you could use Anton as a ghetto Crit Barrager. I think he comes with the traditional jagged>fox>blossom combo anyway, so you could probably use daggers over... oh wait, you're not doing this in HM, so Warrior damage works, I guess. Still, bows interrupt better than melee on heroes.

You know, with Core skills and Prophecies, you could just make a BiP minion master. 8 or 13 Blood magic, 15/16 Death (BiP, Bone Minions, Dark Bond, Masochism + 4 other skills, Taste of Death if you can get him to cast it.) But don't let me tempt you to the dark side. Problem is without SoLS, Necromancer Energy is a bit dicey, so I wouldn't recommend putting Putrid Bile AND death nova there.

@LexTalionis On reviewing things, I think you have a point about Livia's energy, particularly with a mid-range Soul Reaping attribute. I swapped Putrid Bile for Angorodon's Gaze to reduce the energy pressure a little. Sadly, it's no SoLS, but it'll have to do.

More important than your builds is like someone said before, is read about FoW. It is not very hard and you will likely get it done with the heros and skills you posted before. It is not the difficulty that will get you to fail but one of the npc's dying or like i did the first time not read and kill the wailing lord for instance. Doh for me not reading the quest and just went pew pew red dots on my compass.

FoW NM is pretty easy, and you will breeze through most of it. If I were you, I\\\'d do burning forest and gift of griffins first, those are the only 2 points you will have difficulty with. However 2-3 tries each will have you figure it out.

Griffins: go by the left, don\\\'t let the griffs follow you. If they do, just send in heroes into enemy mobs, they can kill them on their own and the griffs will keep following you.

Burning forest: flag heroes well, apart from that, be prepared to do some quick rezzes

Your builds are suboptimal but not bad. You sure know how to cover your weaknesses, so I guess you\'ll do just fine in fow. Remember that before factions, people cleared fow with only prophecies skills. Fow is not very difficult but challenging enough to be fun. The difficulty is more in handling the quests than killing mobs because you can do most with c-space (except burning forest). Consumables are not needed, except maybe an armor in burning forest to be safe.

I think I'd run Incendiary on the player and Barrage on Pyre, because of EBSoH and Dwarven Stability (for SQ).

IMO you should get a hero drop instead. In other words you and somebody else joins FoW with 6 of his heroes, he leaves and you do FoW 7 man good builds instead of 8 man crapbuilds.

Consider dropping the 2 prots on the MM for Mark of Pain and/or Barbs

Also I'd drop BuH and just bring a res scroll. That way you can bring Dwarven Stability and use Lightning Reflexes OR just take a better pve skill like Finish him, pain inverter, you move like a dwarf, i am the strongest etc. etc.

If you know what you're doing these builds will get the job done aswell

You could use the skill unlock packs with tomes.

I doubt that, at this point, the skill unlock packs are much cheaper then the campaigns.

My opinion @ above is it seems like you have too many stacked interrupts and drain enchantments, to where the e-management would get inefficient. It's my first impression, I've not done much in the FoW as of yet, so it may be alright.

As far as the thread goes, there's proof that it's possible right there.

@Pet-lover Tim: I noticed that one of the skills on Vekk's bar is locked (it looks like SoA). How did you get access to it?

Edit: And how did you get Mending Grip? Don't you need a Rit toon to buy the skill?

mending grip is an EoTN skill and other locked skills you see are the default skills that comes when you unlock the hero, they still use it but the player cant

EDIT:i unlocked the skill with balthazar faction

Hmm I checked the Priest of Balthazar but he didn't offer SoA...

Also, what do people think about swapping Kahmu for Hayda (but keeping pretty much the same build)?
